A new season of astronomy events and space science experiences in Dubai is coming to SEE Institute at The Sustainable City, bringing together celestial events, telescope observations, planetarium shows, movie nights, school programs, space camps and hands-on science experiences for families, students and space enthusiasts.

From observing the rings of Saturn through a telescope to exploring how humans could grow food on Mars, Dubai Astronomy Group (DAG) and SEE Institute are bringing an exciting calendar of astronomy, space and science experiences to SEE Institute at The Sustainable City, Dubai.

Where Space Meets Sustainability

Located in The Sustainable City, Dubai, SEE Institute brings together education, research, entrepreneurship, technology, business and community in an environment designed to explore ideas shaping the future.

This makes SEE Institute a natural setting for astronomy and space science. Many of the challenges explored beyond Earth — from energy, food and water to technology, habitats and resource management — connect directly with questions of sustainability here on our own planet.

Together, Dubai Astronomy Group and SEE Institute are creating experiences that encourage curiosity, scientific thinking and a deeper understanding of both Earth and the universe beyond it.

Astronomy Events Coming to SEE Institute

Saturn at Opposition: See the Ringed Planet at Its Best

On 4 October 2026, astronomy enthusiasts and curious visitors can explore Saturn during Saturn at Opposition, one of the best periods of the year to observe the planet.

The evening will explore Saturn, its iconic rings, moons and atmosphere through an engaging astronomy talk and Q&A session, followed by an immersive planetarium experience and guided telescope observations of Saturn in the night sky.

Surviving Mars: Science Meets Cinema

The Martian Movie Night brings science and cinema together for an evening exploring what it would really take to survive on Mars.

Alongside a screening of The Martian, visitors can join an expert panel discussion, test their knowledge with space trivia, take part in a hands-on activity exploring food production and sustainability, and end the evening with guided telescope observations of the night sky.

Witness the Beaver Supermoon

The Beaver Supermoon offers an opportunity to discover the science behind one of the year's notable lunar events.

The evening will explore the Moon, its orbit, phases and the phenomenon behind supermoons through an astronomy talk and Q&A. Visitors will then experience Back to the Moon in the planetarium before heading outdoors for guided telescope observations of the lunar surface.

Celebrate the Final Supermoon of 2026

The Cold Supermoon, taking place on 24 December, will mark the final supermoon of 2026 and bring another evening of lunar exploration to SEE Institute.

Visitors will discover the science of the Moon through an astronomy talk and interactive Q&A, experience Back to the Moon inside the planetarium, and conclude the evening with guided telescope observations under the December night sky.

A Place for the Astronomy Community

The collaboration will also create more opportunities for Dubai Astronomy Group members to meet, learn and engage with the wider astronomy community.

DAG's membership program includes free and paid options, with benefits and opportunities designed for different levels of interest. Throughout the year, members can look forward to meetups, astronomy discussions, special sessions and other community experiences.

Kicking off these activities, DAG will host its first Members Online Meetup on 2 October 2026, bringing the community together for an evening of astronomy, conversation and updates.

The meetup will feature the latest space news, upcoming DAG events, new projects and initiatives, an introduction to membership tiers and benefits, an open Q&A, and a feedback session where members can share their ideas for future activities.

The meetup will take place online via Microsoft Teams at 7:00 PM and is free for DAG members. To receive the meeting access link, participants must first register as a Dubai Astronomy Group member.

Beyond the Events: Learning Through Astronomy

The collaboration extends beyond public events, creating more ways for schools, students, children, families and astronomy enthusiasts to explore space science at SEE Institute throughout the year.

Schools can visit SEE Institute for dedicated astronomy programs designed to bring space science beyond the classroom. Programs can include interactive astronomy talks, planetarium experiences, hands-on activities and telescope observations, covering topics such as the Solar System, the Moon, stars, space exploration and the wider universe.

Children and families will also be able to take part in seasonal experiences, Winter Camps and special activities during World Space Week, with programs designed for young explorers to discover astronomy through experiments, STEM challenges, creative activities and hands-on learning alongside opportunities for parents and families to join selected experiences.

For those looking to take their interest further, DAG also offers astronomy courses and workshops covering a range of subjects and experience levels, from introductory astronomy and telescope use to astrophotography and more specialised areas of space science.
