Deep Sky Astrophotography Course

Overview:
A hands-on course focused on introducing participants to simple deep sky astrophotography under darker UAE skies.
This course is designed for those who want to learn how to capture faint celestial objects beyond the planets, such as star clusters, bright nebulae, and wide-field deep sky targets, using accessible equipment and practical techniques.

What’s needed:
Participants are encouraged to bring their own astrophotography equipment if available, such as a telescope, tracking mount, astronomy camera, DSLR or mirrorless camera, lenses, tripod, and laptop.
For participants who do not have their own equipment, equipment can be provided during the course for learning and demonstration purposes. The goal is to help participants understand the deep sky imaging workflow practically, whether they are using their own setup or learning on provided equipment.

What you’ll learn:
Participants are guided through the full basic deep sky imaging workflow, including planning the session, setting up equipment in the field, understanding exposure settings, capturing long-exposure images, and processing the final image during a dedicated online session.

Core outcome:
By the end of the course, participants will understand how to plan, capture, stack, and process simple deep sky images from the UAE.
Participants will gain the confidence to continue practicing deep sky astrophotography independently using accessible equipment, proper field techniques, and a basic post-processing workflow.
